Background

Established in 2018, the Foundation is composed of a Board of Directors with extensive experience throughout Africa, and in Liberia , particularly in post-war rebuilding of programs, infrastructure and policies.

Vision

The Ellen Johnson Sirleaf Presidential Foundation is organized for charitable and educational purposes, specifically raising contributions for and providing financial support to establish and maintain a place where visitors and scholars can study, discover, investigate, debate, and analyze documents, recordings, and other materials from Ellen Johnson Sirleaf’s administration and the impact of Africa’s first female, democratically elected president on Liberia and on the people of Africa, especially youth and women.

Activities

The Foundation deploys its experience and expertise in assisting the Center in its fundraising efforts, securing and managing individual and institutional donor contributions via a grant process. The focus of the Foundation’s fundraising is currently:

Support to building President Johnson Sirleaf’s personal, professional and presidential Archives.

 “My primary take-aways from our visit to Harvard University, steward of the Archives for 25 years, are two-fold:

1) The catalytic effect of the agreement between the Center and the Archives Library on the University’s approach to long-term stewardship of archives in general.
